The Lancaster AI Hub’s development is extending beyond the jobsite, with ongoing efforts to support the local economy, strengthen workforce development, and engage with community organizations throughout the region. 

Local Economic Impact 

In addition to construction-related activity, the project generated more than $2 million in local economic activity during the first half of 2026 through spending on materials, meals, fuel, accommodation, and other project needs. 

Where possible, project spending has been directed to Lancaster-area businesses, including local food-service providers and suppliers supporting a daily on-site workforce of more than 500 people. 

From January through June 2026, Turner Construction, also added 10 experienced employees who live in Lancaster or will be based in the area full time. 

Workforce Development and Education 

The project team has been working with local colleges and universities to explore partnerships, connect students with career opportunities, and support curriculum that reflects the needs of the construction industry. 

Team members have participated in local workforce-development meetings and recruiting events, including outreach at Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology. Representatives from Chirisa Technology Parks also took part in Millersville University’s Lancaster AI Symposium 3.0 and welcomed Millersville students studying construction management and occupational safety for an on-site tour and learning experience. 

Community Outreach and Service 

Community service has also been an ongoing focus. Efforts from the first half of 2026 include a winter coat drive benefiting The Salvation Army and local residents, as well as volunteer service at the Water Street Mission Food Bank. 

The team has also supported backpack drives for local students and families. In addition, Lancaster Fire Department Platoons A, B, C, and D have visited the project site, with additional training sessions planned. 

Supporting Future Builders 

Through STEM mentorship activities, team members are helping introduce students to careers in construction, skilled trades, and related fields. 

The project is also providing hands-on experience for Summer 2026 interns, many of whom were recruited from colleges and universities in the region. Interns are contributing directly to the project while gaining practical experience and professional development within the construction industry. 

This summer’s interns represent: 

• Villanova University 

• Millersville University 

• Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology 

• Pennsylvania College of Technology 

• Denison University 

An additional college recruit is scheduled to join the team in September 2026, continuing the project’s emphasis on building connections between education, employment, and the Lancaster community.
