The I- 83 and I-81 Corridors from York, PA to Hagerstown, MD has become one of the major epicenters for the location of warehouse facilities and distribution centers in the United States. Many are calling it “The Golden Corridor” of Warehouse, Logistics and Distribution centers in the country. In addition to the Starbucks distribution center, it’s a Who’s Who of major players that have located to the corridor such as Amazon, Target, Walmart, Staples, Home Depot, Curwood Logistics, Food Lion, and Schneider to name a few. This has created an economic boom in Northern Maryland and South Central Pennsylvania.
We are thankful that Starbucks chose to locate their Roasting & Distribution Center in York, Pennsylvania. The Starbucks facility, based in York for over 20 years, employs more than 500 people and roasts over 3 million pounds of coffee each week. In addition to the direct jobs, the York distribution center has been estimated to bring nearly $490 million dollars of economic impact to the region through additional work with local businesses, suppliers and contractors.
