Disney’s Newsies, the popular movie and Tony award-winning Broadway hit comes to life onstage at Dutch Apple Dinner Theatre June 30 – August 5. This captivating story, inspired by true events from the 1899 newspaper strike, is a high-energy explosion of song and dance.
When Jack Kelly, a charismatic newsboy, discovers publishing titans of New York decide to raise distribution prices, he rallies the teenage “newsies” from across the city to strike against the unfair conditions and wages. When he meets a young reporter, Katharine Plummer, she writes an exclusive story about the newsies that hits the front page!
Matt Henningsen returns to the Dutch Apple stage as the magnetic Jack Kelly – a role that has been a dream of his since high school. Henningsen recently starred as Tony Manero in Saturday Night Fever.
The female lead, Katherine Plummer, played by Katherine Lindsley, is also returning to Dutch Apple. Lindsley appeared earlier this season as a swing in Agatha Christie’s Murder on the Orient Express. View full bios.
