A Letter From our President
As summer arrives across Lancaster County, our downtowns, business districts, and community gathering places come alive with residents and visitors. Sidewalks fill with people, local shops welcome new customers, community events bring us together, and businesses continue the work of serving, investing, and creating opportunity.
Our Main Streets here serve as places where entrepreneurship takes root and community gathers. Whether in a historic downtown, a growing borough, or an emerging business district, these spaces reflect the character and resilience of the communities they serve.
In this issue of Thriving, we explore the businesses, partnerships, and local leadership that help shape our Main Streets. You will read stories of collaboration and investment that demonstrate how business success and community success are closely connected. From revitalization efforts and workforce development to housing, agriculture, infrastructure, and local media, each story highlights the important role businesses play in creating vibrant communities and a strong local economy.
You will also see how partnerships continue to drive progress throughout Lancaster County. Habitat for Humanity’s work in Columbia illustrates how housing, volunteerism, and community investment intersect. The story behind Land in Lancaster demonstrates the power of collaboration in attracting and retaining talent. Other features showcase organizations and businesses that are investing in infrastructure, education, agriculture, and local commerce while helping position our County for long-term success.
What ties these stories together is a shared understanding that thriving communities do not happen by accident. They are built through intentional leadership, long-term commitment, and a willingness to invest in the places we call home.
At the Lancaster Chamber, we get to see that spirit every day in the businesses choosing to grow here, the leaders stepping up to solve challenges, and the partnerships continuing to strengthen our County.
We also see that spirit in the strong partnerships we have with local chambers and business organizations through Lancaster County. While each organization serves a unique community and membership base, we are united by a common goal to create environments where businesses can succeed and communities thrive. By working together, sharing resources, and aligning around topics that matter to employers, we strengthen our collective ability to support business growth and advance the economic vitality of Lancaster County.
