Lancaster Chamber Statement Regarding New Mitigation Efforts - 12/10/2020 - Lancaster Chamber of Commerce
Chamber Updates, Impact and Advocacy

Following the December 10th announcement from Governor Wolf on extended mitigation efforts, the Lancaster Chamber has issued the following statement:

With his actions today, the Governor has made a devastating public health situation even more devastating for business.

While it is incumbent upon all of us to do all we can to follow safety protocols to protect ourselves and others, the continued targeted mitigation toward specific businesses is severely impacting their future survival.  Compounding the devastation is the countless number of employees who now face an uncertain future.

We were discouraged to learn that the Governor’s mandates were developed without business at the table.  Rather, they have become the victims.  We have witnessed, first hand, the incredible work businesses have undertaken to ensure safety protocols in their companies, their stores and their restaurants and we are discouraged that those protocols are not recognized through this latest order.  We are further discouraged that these mandates have come with no offer of any type of financial assistance or guidance.

The Lancaster Chamber is absolutely committed to championing the public health efforts that are needed at this time of crisis.  We are equally committed to championing the success of business in our community.  We invite the Governor to join us.

In the meantime, we are asking all Lancastrians to prioritize Thinking Local with all your purchases.  Get take-out this weekend; explore local retailers’ website and on-line pick-up options; and find a way to help these businesses in need.  Thank you.
