This course addresses the business knowledge, skills, and abilities required of individual contributors to drive company performance, build personal confidence, and better prepare for career advancement. So often, employees are thrown into a new job or career with limited training and development beyond the company’s product or service technical training. The Young Professionals' Academy will review key business and personal development competencies that are needed in today’s workforce. Through group discussion, self-discovery, interactive activities and instructor-led learning; participants will be challenged to develop their LEADERSHIP, COMMUNICATION and PERFORMANCE skills to maximize performance for themselves and their employers.

Attendees will leave this program with deeper insights into the world of business, improved ability to manage their behaviors, and enhanced confidence to direct their professional growth.

LEADERSHIP

1. Developing a leadership mentality

·         Understand leadership is not just managing people

·         Define what leadership means

·         Create a leadership mindset in all facets of your job

 

2. Personal presence

·         Learn how to professionally carry yourself day to day

·         Identify key traits you want to model and exhibit to others

·         Understand the impact of your own personal presence (as well as others)

·         Learn basics of thinking ‘on’ the business rather than ‘in’ the business

·         Become a better big picture advocate for your manager and organization

·         Utilizing DISC concepts, learn effective ways to communicate with others (in all directions)

·         Understand dynamics of working as a team

·         Learn to adopt a solution based process for business issues / tasks

·         Develop ways to think differently to broaden mindset and ability to adapt

·         Understanding marketing and social media in today’s business environment

·         Identify core measurable activities that drive workplace performance and track behaviors

·         Understand time management best practices (and reducing procrastination)

2. Goal setting

·         Understand key components of setting goals

·         Identify hurdles that may prevent achieving goals

·         Create a plan for short, mid and long term goals/performance

 

3. Selling yourself and your ideas

·         Creating and understanding your ‘why’

·         Setting clear expectations

·         Develop a 30 second commercial

·         Create a plan for career pathing
