Prosperity Indicator Issue Conversation - Snow Goose Boat Trip
Within the Physical Environment section of the Prosperity Indicators, we track water quality based on the percentage of streams that are impaired or polluted. Of the County’s 1,400 miles of streams, 47% are listed on PA’s polluted list – all of which flow into the Susquehanna River and, ultimately, the Chesapeake Bay. To gain a better understanding of the impact that has on the Bay, we have partnered with the Chesapeake Bay Foundation to offer a boat trip into the Susquehanna Flats.
Chesapeake Bay Foundation’s environmental education program focuses on the Chesapeake Bay as a beautiful and productive ecosystem that is often stressed by a vital economic system. Using the Susquehanna Flats as the classroom, this boat trip will explore the complex and fascinating interrelationships in the estuary. Participants will develop a keener awareness of the environment and how it interacts with a natural ecosystem, while gaining a better understanding of how the Susquehanna River plays a role in the outcomes of the Chesapeake Bay.
There are only 14 slots available for this trip. The cost to attend is $15. Click on the button, below, to register.
About the Prosperity Indicators Initiative
Launched in November 2011, The Chamber, in partnership with local organizations, unveiled Prosperity Indicators to measure and monitor on an annual basis the level of prosperity we are experiencing in Lancaster County and in what areas we need to improve.
